Barefoot health volunteers from Madhya Pradesh’s Panna and Vidisha districts received further training in tuberculosis (TB) prevention and treatment at a workshop in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
The workshop was conducted in collaboration with Mumbai’s PATH (People’s Association for Training and Health) organisation, which focuses on tuberculosis.
The youth volunteers received further information on the disease, the medication course, and daily nutrition. They also discussed better ways to prevent TB and track the disease in communities using technology.
To understand the TB situation in the city, the youth also engaged with patients as part of a field visit.
Our barefoot health volunteers mainly work with tribal communities in Panna and Vidisha. The communities, who mostly depend on mine labour for their survival, suffer a high incidence of diseases like TB and silicosis.
