In Madhya Pradesh’s Panna and Vidisha districts, our teams are conducting household assessment of the health condition of tribals, who are mostly engaged as mine workers.
The Saharia community in Vidisha, a particularly vulnerable tribal group (PVTG), suffers a high incidence of tuberculosis (TB), silicosis, and water-borne diseases. Almost all the families depend on mine labour, as their lands and forests have been destroyed by illegal mining.
Similarly in Panna, Gonds displaced from the Tiger Reserve also suffer from silicosis, TB, and malnutrition.
