Adivasi women from nine villages in Madhya Pradesh's Panna marked this special day by coming together to advocate for their communities. Facing several challenges of citizenship, food security and livelihoods even after years of relocation from their habitats and suffering from occupational illnesses like Silicosis, the Gond women prepared their micro plans and submitted the same to the District Collector and CEO. These plans identified their village specific actions from the government on entitlements.
Their key representations include:
Settlement of pending rehabilitation promises in Panna tiger reserve including issue of pattas and land development for land given as compensation.
Recognition of forest rights and forest resource management rights
Employment Guarantee from MGNREGS and DMF to ensure local livelihood and prevent distress migration
Immediately giving certificates and rehabilitation to Silicosis affected workers and their families
Restoration of water bodies affected by mining and forest degeneration
Setting up of hostels attached to high schools to prevent child labour
Compensation for cattle losses from wildlife attacks
Public health, transport and energy facilities
